I’ve recently planted some seeds for purple artichokes, and they have spouted. They are still very small put I’m hoping to get some that eventually look like these. Someone told me they get huge so I’m growing them in a pot so I can give them plenty of room. Has anyone ever grown them?

I have grown them from seed. The main problem I had was that some of (actually most) did no produce a large head. A lot of the plants had small heads. You will need to grow as many plants as you can and expect to select only a few that are going to be productive.
Good to know. I was in the farmer’s market the other day and noticed some purple ones but they were small. I may just go ahead and grow the green ones. Any recommendations as to which type?
