About

me and Theo at a cafeThis is where share my life and my journeys of discovery with others interested in urban farming, growing vegetables and fruit, raising chickens, making cheese, soap, knitting, sewing, you name it.

The cast of characters are Pete, my 50-something wonder-music-man who keeps me laughing, thinking and dreaming about making more fantastic memories in the future, Theo, my truly amazing black Standard Poodle, who dutifully provides me with himself as a creature to love and spoil as much as my maternal heart desires, Maji, the friendliest orange tabby you will ever meet, and yours truly, Amanda, a 40-something graphic designer with a love of plants and animals in all their wonderful shapes and sizes.

me and Theo at a cafeI hope that you will be inspired to turn off the TV more often, and find joy with us in the small things, watching things grow, and nourishing your loved ones.

me and Theo at a cafeRight now, my home is in Monrovia, California. It’s not a bad place to call home, and in the six years I have lived here I have made many wonderful friends. I have never been a hot weather person, however, and, feel a deep yearning to have land, lots of green, big trees, and rain. I think I will be heading northward in a few years.
